Viral Dinner Party

The Idea —

How many recipes have you saved on Instagram just for them to never be opened again? Either you forget they exist or you don’t have the right occasion to make it. I decided it was time to pull those recipes from the archives. And because I love a good competition, I decided we were going to score each recipe to find out which ones deserve to be viral!

Here’s how I turned the idea into entire dinner party theme!

How I Prepped —

You guys know by now, my favorite part of hosting is the decorating, not the food. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE FOOD!!! I’m just not a confident cook. Plus, as a mom to three young girls, finding the time to cook AND do all of the other party prep is hard. So when I thought of this “Viral Recipe” idea, I knew I wanted to go full blown science lab and play on the word “viral”.

I used a shower liner to cover the doorway and made a sign that said “AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY” to put on top of it. Then I grabbed some beautiful white ranunculus from Trader Joe’s and added those to beakers for a fresh touch on the table.

I made test results scoring sheets to score each dish on flavor, presentation, creativity and practicality. When everyone arrived they were handed a clipboard and scoring sheet. I, also, created specimen labels for each dish. Then I supplied my friends with lab coats, isolation gowns, and gloves. We even borrowed some accessories from our kids’ doctor toy sets. LOL!

What We Ate —

Our winners were the espresso martini and charcuterie nachos!

  • prosciutto brie bites

  • caramelized onion bites

  • butternut squash feta pasta

  • greek goddess salad

  • chorizo stuffed sweet peppers

  • tiktok tiramisu

  • greek yogurt cookie dough

  • poppi soda

What You Need —

This is one of those parties where you don’t need to buy anything if you don’t want to! You can make do with what you have.
