Pasta Making with a Twist

The Idea —

Pasta making is a classic girls’ night activity, perfect for the colder months when you’re stuck inside. I knew it was time we try our hand at it, but, naturally, I needed to put my own spin on it!

So, here’s how I turned the idea into entire dinner party theme: Pasta Making with a Twist!

How I Prepped —

I kept decor pretty minimal by hanging black streamers above my kitchen table and placing a bunch of twisty black candles in the middle of the table. I got a red and white striped tablecloth from Table 06 and used red napkins I already owned for pops of color. (Red is such a versatile color for many holidays so I know I’ll use this tablecloth again!) My husband twisted forks for me to use as place card holders, but you could buy these.

I thought it would be fun for use all to have aprons and chef hats. I couldn’t find affordable and cute aprons, so I got cheap white ones on amazon and painted them with tomatoes and stripes! Here’s how they turned out!

For the REAL TWIST of the night, each friend picked a challenge out of a cup. Some of them were: you can only use one hand, you have to sportscast the night, you can only speak in questions, you can’t hear. You’ll want to write these down on small pieces of paper and place into your cup before your friends arrive.

For another twist, I placed different types of pasta shapes in a cup for us to choose from: linguine, pappardelle, fusilli, cavatelli. These can be made without any fancy equipment!

What We Ate —

I normally ask my friends to bring a dish to share, but for this party I had some fairly simple, and twisty(!) dishes in mind that I felt I could tackle! If you want to delegate, simply send your friend the link to one of these!

Appetizers:

PASTA!!!! We ended up making all of the shapes! We made a ground beef meat sauce to go with.
