Floats & Boats
The Idea —
If you’ve been looking for a pool party theme that’s equal parts hilarious and delicious, this is it. It’s easily one of the best girls’ night themes I’ve ever done and it’s virality on IG and TikTok is a testament to that!
The concept is simple: every guest brings a floatie AND a boat-inspired dish. That’s it! I don’t own a pool, but when I brought this idea up to my friends, one of them happily volunteered her house!
The Floaties —
I told my girls to bring a floatie and, I cannot stress this enough, they delivered. We had a giant man float, a chicken, a bull, a full sized car, a banana. I didn’t tell my friends to be ridiculous, they just naturally are HAHA. No kids, no responsibilities, just vibes!!
What We Ate —
This is where your guests get creative. The only requirement is that the dish has to be boat-shaped or boat-inspired, and the results were incredible. Here’s what showed up on our table:
The sushi boat was the showstopper. Gorgeous, fresh, and felt very on-theme.
Cucumber caprese boats were simple and so pretty. Halved cucumbers loaded with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and a drizzle of balsamic. They looked amazing on the tray and disappeared fast.
Bread bowl with dip is always a crowd pleaser and it fits right in. A hollowed-out sourdough loaf filled with your favorite dip is never a bad idea at a party.
Stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon were the snack everyone kept going back to. A little heat, a little smoky, and they went perfectly with the cold drinks.
Scoop tortilla chips and salsa rounded it out as the easy grab-and-go option on the table, and honestly no spread is complete without it.
And then for dessert, we had banana boats! Bananas stuffed with chocolate, marshmallows, strawberries, and Reese’s cups. We stuffed the bananas with our favorite toppings, wrapped them in foil and roasted them over the fire!
We kept it classic with two options for drinks: pina coladas for the cocktail crowd, and root beer floats for anyone who wanted something a little more nostalgic. You can add Rumchata to your rootbeer float to make it boozy! Both fit the theme perfectly and both are crowd pleasers. You really cannot go wrong.
