The Idea:
A caramel apple you can take as a shot!
These were the kickoff for our Cider House girls' night. After dinner everyone picked an apple to find out which team they were on, and then the whole room took one of these together as a toast before the games started.
Mine are set in little plastic apples with snap-on lids, but you could just use normal cups! Full Cider House party guide here.
Recipe:
Ingredients
(Makes about 24)
1½ cups apple cider
2 packets unflavored gelatin (¼ oz each)
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup caramel vodka
½ cup caramel sauce
Flaky sea salt
Instructions
Warm the caramel sauce about 10 seconds in the microwave, then spoon about 1 tsp into each apple. Put the tin in the fridge.
Pour ½ cup of the cider into a bowl and sprinkle both gelatin packets over it. Let it sit 5 minutes until it looks wrinkly. That's the bloom, and skipping it is how you get grainy shots.
Put the remaining 1 cup of cider, the brown sugar, and the cinnamon stick in a small pot. Heat over medium until steaming, about 5 minutes. Don't let it boil. Pull the cinnamon stick.
Whisk the bloomed gelatin into the hot cider until it fully dissolves, no grains left.
Let it cool 2 minutes, then stir in the caramel vodka.
Pull the apples from the fridge. Pour about 1½ tbsp of the mix over the caramel in each.
Chill uncovered 4 hours or overnight until set. Keep cold until serving.
